Aylward 24 Game Competition - We got 1st!

Last Friday, 6 children from Y5 & Y6 took part in the Aylward 24 Game competition. In total 6 schools across Harrow took part in the competition. The children were outstanding and should be really proud of what they have achieved. Over the last 3 months, they have shown excellent desire, commitment and have worked extremely hard. We were able to achieve a 1st place finish and win the school trophy for the 2nd consecutive year. Please see below how we scored in comparison to other schools.

Individual points

Elmgrove were also able to win 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place for the individual awards for the 2nd consecutive year. 36 children took part in total. Please see below the individual points the children were able to score in each round. 6 points represent a child winning the round, 7 points represent a child winning the round with ease. There were a few occasions where we scored lower than 6 points (especially in Round 5) – this was due to children from Elmgrove competing against each other which meant it was not possible for them all to score 6 or 7 points.

Darsh, Faryal and Ameya are now 3 time champions. This is the first competition Purv has taken part in and he achieved the 1st place trophy for individual points. Abdul and Danish were excellent additions to the team, they had the least amount of training time and achieved 2nd and 4th place in terms of individual points.

Children's Write-up

Last Friday, we went to a maths tournament hosted by Aylward Primary School. The team consisted of Ameya 6B, Faryal 6L, Darsh 6K, Purv 6B, Abdul 5G, Danish 5G. This is how it went.

We arrived at school at 8:00am and went up for a quick warm-up round. After we wore our hi-vises, we left for Northwick Park station. We took the train to Wembley Park station and from there took a different train to Stanmore station. From there we took a ten-minute walk to Aylward Primary School. Once we arrived in the hall, we waited on our bench until we were told our assigned tables. There were 5 rounds in the tournament, each lasting 5 minutes. In the last round, the best players had to compete on the same table and fight for the best individual award. Elmgrove managed to secure the top 4 individual spots. What place do you think Elmgrove got? We got 1st! This is the second time we have won. The journey back was very relaxing and happy because we won. This was a very wonderful experience.
